Adoption fees include necessary vaccinations and spaying/neutering of every animal that is adopted from our facility. If the animal is too young for sterilizing, the adopter is responsible to see that this is done. Once confirmation is received by FMHS that the adopted animal has been altered, $75.00 of the adoption fee is refunded to the adopter.

After you have spent some time with the animal you are interested in, you can begin the application process. The first step is to fill out the Adoption Application. We have a 24 hour waiting period prior to you taking the animal home to allow us to look over your application and make any necessary contacts. Please know that we do contact landlords to make sure that any deposits are paid and that permission to have a pet has been granted.

The waiting period will also allow you to thoroughly think over this commitment and will provide you time to get any supplies needed, talk to your vet, and get everything ready for your new pet. If your application is approved, you will be called to come in and finish the rest of the paperwork.

The adoption fee is $146.00 for dogs and $136.00 for cats, this includes a basic exam, your new pet’s first set of vaccinations (distemper, parvo, bordatella, and rabies if the animal is 4 months of age or older), a first deworming, a flea/tick exam and treatment, and a microchip. All cats are also tested for FIV/FeLV, and the majority of our animals are already spayed or neutered (and if not, $75 will be refunded to the adopter upon proof that this has been done).
